Meta now appears as an AI channel in my admin. Do I need to do anything?
Meta shares products through Shopify Catalog by default. Review eligible direct checkout for US buyers and the separate shoppable ads feed requirement.

- When this applies
- A Meta row appeared under Sales channels, Agentic, and nobody on your team added it. [1] [3]
- When this does not apply
- Direct checkout requires selling to United States customers and meeting Meta eligibility requirements. The Facebook and Instagram product feed requirement applies specifically to shoppable ads; Catalog sharing is a separate setting. [2]
- Why this matters
- The default Allow Shopify to manage for me setting enrolls stores in new channels with Shopify Catalog access. Meta direct checkout is active by default for eligible stores and displayed only to United States buyers. [3] [2]
- What to do, or not do
- Open Sales channels, then Agentic, then Meta. Read the eligibility information and current Catalog access and Direct checkout states. To change an available control, first turn off Allow Shopify to manage for me, set the control, and save. For shoppable ads, also check product syncing in the Facebook and Instagram by Meta channel. [2] [3]
- What you'll see when it's done
- You have recorded the current Catalog access and Direct checkout states, or the eligibility limit shown, with a reason for each choice. Any intended change is saved; if you use shoppable ads, you have also checked product syncing. [2]

When a third party is worth paying for, and what you do not have to buy
- When paid help is worth it
- Paid help is worth it only where someone already maintains your Facebook and Instagram by Meta product feed and now has to reconcile it with the Meta channel, including the gap where third-party pixels do not fire during direct checkout. [2]
Shopify’s merchant changelog dated September 8, 2026 says Meta joined Agentic Storefronts and products are shared through Shopify Catalog by default. Seeing the Meta row tells you where to review participation. It does not establish your store’s checkout eligibility or current settings.
What the default allows
Shopify’s Agentic storefronts page says Allow Shopify to manage for me is on by default. It enables Catalog access and automatically enrolls the store in new channels. Direct checkout is activated where supported; Meta specifies eligible stores. Read the actual settings before deciding whether to change them.
Direct checkout and shoppable ads
Shopify’s Meta page lists these direct checkout requirements: selling to United States customers, Catalog-eligible products, acceptance of the Agentic Storefronts Supplemental Terms of Service, and completed Terms of service, Privacy policy, and Return and refund policy. Eligible stores have direct checkout active by default. Buyers must be based in the United States to see it.
The Facebook and Instagram by Meta channel, with product syncing active in its Product feed section, is required specifically for products to be discoverable and purchasable through shoppable ads. Absence of that feed alone does not establish ineligibility for every Meta direct checkout surface.
Review the current controls
- Open Sales channels, then Agentic, then Meta. Read the eligibility information and current Shopify Catalog access and Direct checkout states. Record any displayed eligibility limit.
- If the current settings match your intent, leave them unchanged. To edit an available control, first deactivate Allow Shopify to manage for me, open Meta, change the control, and save.
- If you use shoppable ads, check that product syncing is active in the Facebook and Instagram by Meta channel’s Product feed section.
Catalog access governs sharing through Shopify Catalog. Turning it off can take up to seven days to stop sharing and also deactivates direct checkout. Other discovery methods, including web crawling, can still surface products.
Turning off Direct checkout alone leaves Catalog discovery available and redirects purchasing to your online store. A missing or unavailable checkout control is a reason to review the displayed eligibility information before claiming the setting is active.
Finish with the state you can read
Record both current control states, or the displayed eligibility limit, and your reason for each choice. Confirm any intended changes are saved. These settings do not prove product placement, a buyer’s checkout experience, or a sale.
Meta orders appear in Shopify admin and are attributed to Meta. Third-party analytics pixels do not fire during Meta direct checkout, so those pixels cannot confirm that purchase step.
