## When this applies

A Meta row appeared under Sales channels, Agentic, and nobody on your team added it. [1][3]

## When this does not apply

Direct checkout requires selling to customers in the United States, Canada, or Mexico and meeting Meta eligibility requirements. The Facebook and Instagram product feed requirement applies specifically to shoppable ads; Catalog sharing is a separate setting. [2]

## Why this matters

The default Allow Shopify to manage for me setting enrolls stores in new channels with Shopify Catalog access. Meta direct checkout is active by default for eligible stores and displayed only to buyers in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. [3][2]

## What to do

Read Meta’s eligibility and current Catalog access and Direct checkout states in Sales channels > Agentic. To edit, turn off Allow Shopify to manage for me, change the control, and save. Check product syncing separately for shoppable ads. [2][3]

## When you’re done

You have recorded the current Catalog access and Direct checkout states, or the eligibility limit shown, with a reason for each choice. Any intended change is saved; if you use shoppable ads, you have also checked product syncing. [2]

## What this cannot prove

A channel setting states what you allow. It does not prove that Meta displayed a product, that a shopper saw direct checkout, or that anything sold. [2][1]

## Paid help and free options

- When paid help makes sense: Paid help is worth it only where someone already maintains your Facebook and Instagram by Meta product feed and now has to reconcile it with the Meta channel, including the gap where third-party pixels do not fire during direct checkout. [2]
- What’s already free: Review these settings in Shopify admin. Meta direct checkout has no additional selling fee; standard payment processing fees still apply. Catalog sharing does not require a separate feed app. [2][3]

**Review Meta's saved settings; its presence in Admin proves no checkout eligibility.** The [September 8, 2026 changelog](https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/meta-is-now-an-ai-channel-in-your-admin) says products are shared through Catalog by default.

## Read sharing and checkout separately

[Allow Shopify to manage for me](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/agentic-storefronts/agentic-home) is on by default. It allows Catalog access and new-channel enrollment, with supported direct checkout. Meta limits checkout to eligible stores.

The [Meta instructions](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/agentic-storefronts/meta) list direct checkout requirements: sales to the United States, Canada, or Mexico, Catalog-eligible products, accepted supplemental terms, and complete Terms of service, Privacy policy, and Return and refund policy. Eligible stores have checkout on by default; only buyers in those countries see it.

Facebook and Instagram by Meta product syncing is required specifically for shoppable ads. Its absence does not by itself exclude every Meta checkout surface.

## Record your choice

1. Open Sales channels > Agentic > Meta. Record the current Catalog access and Direct checkout states, and any displayed eligibility limit.
2. Leave settings that match your intent. To edit an available control, turn off Allow Shopify to manage for me, change the Meta control, and save.
3. For shoppable ads, check product syncing under Facebook and Instagram by Meta > Product feed.

Turning off Catalog access also turns off direct checkout. Sharing can take up to seven days to stop; web discovery can continue. Turning off only checkout keeps Catalog discovery and sends buyers to your store. An unavailable control needs an eligibility check.

Finish with both settings or the displayed limit, reasons, and saved changes. Meta orders appear in Admin attributed to Meta, but third-party pixels do not fire in direct checkout. Settings alone prove no placement, buyer experience, or sale.
